Treatment
Targeted relief for held tension
Overview
A firmer, more focused treatment that works into specific areas of tightness and fascia restriction. Ideal when a lighter massage no longer feels enough.
Deep tissue massage uses slow, firm strokes and sustained pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle. Myofascial release works differently: a gentle, prolonged stretch is held through the fascia, the connective tissue that wraps every muscle, until restricted areas soften and move more freely. Each session blends the two depending on what your body needs that day.
The areas clients ask about most are the neck and shoulders, the upper and lower back, the hips and glutes, and the legs after training. The consultation maps where tension is held, and the session works through those areas methodically rather than rushing the whole body.
Monique is a Brazilian qualified physiotherapist, so the work is informed by how posture, movement and daily habits load the body. Pressure is checked with you throughout. Firm never has to mean painful, and the depth can change from one area to the next.
Cupping can be added to the session for stubborn areas that manual pressure alone has not cleared.

Questions
Deep tissue massage uses firm, slow pressure to work into the deeper muscle layers. Myofascial release applies a gentle, sustained stretch to the fascia around the muscle and waits for it to soften. One session includes both, so tight muscle gets targeted pressure and restricted tissue gets slower release work.
It is firm and purposeful rather than painful. Some areas can feel tender while they are being worked, and the pressure is adjusted with your feedback throughout. Mild soreness for a day or two afterwards is normal and settles with warmth, water and gentle movement.
For a specific problem such as a tight neck or lower back, weekly or fortnightly sessions for a short period usually work best. For maintenance alongside desk work or training, most clients book every three to four weeks.
Any area of muscular tension. The most common requests are the neck, shoulders, upper and lower back, hips, glutes and legs. A session can focus on one or two areas in depth or cover the whole body with lighter work elsewhere.
Sixty minutes is enough to work one or two areas thoroughly. Ninety minutes allows a full-body treatment with time to go deep into the areas that need it most, and suits clients with tension in several places.
Please mention pregnancy, recent surgery, injuries or any medical conditions when booking. Techniques can often be adapted. Clients recovering from surgery are usually better suited to post-operative lymphatic drainage, with clearance from their surgeon.
